# Connect the MCP server

> Add The Prompting Company MCP server to Claude Code, Claude.ai, or another MCP client and sign in with your TPC account.

The Prompting Company (TPC) MCP server lets an AI agent manage your TPC products, prompts, site content, and knowledge files, and read your product analytics. It is a remote server at:

```text theme={null}
https://mcp.promptingco.com/mcp
```

You sign in with your TPC account through OAuth. The authorization server is `https://app.promptingco.com/api/auth`. Each tool calls the TPC API with your access token, so the agent can only reach organizations you are a member of.

<Note>
  This server is separate from the one in the [MCP server guide](/guides/MCP-Server), which uses `https://app.promptingco.com/api/mcp` and has a different set of tools. The pages in this tab cover `https://mcp.promptingco.com/mcp`.
</Note>

## Tools

| Area | Tools |
| - | - |
| Products | `list-products`, `add-product`, `modify-product` |
| Analytics | `explore-analytics` |
| Prompts | `list-prompts`, `add-prompt`, `modify-prompt`, `delete-prompt` |
| Prompt suggestions | `list-prompt-suggestions`, `generate-prompt-suggestions`, `modify-prompt-suggestion`, `review-prompt-suggestions` |
| Content | `listContent`, `getContent`, `writeContent`, `reviewContent`, `removeContent` |
| Knowledge files | `listKnowledgeFiles`, `getKnowledgeFile`, `manageKnowledgeFiles` |

Every tool needs your [organization slug](#find-your-organization-slug). Tools that work on one product also need its slug or ID. The agent looks it up with `list-products`.

## Claude Code

Add the server:

```bash theme={null}
claude mcp add --transport http tpc https://mcp.promptingco.com/mcp
```

Then run this command in Claude Code, select `tpc`, and sign in:

```text theme={null}
/mcp
```

Your browser opens. Sign in to The Prompting Company and approve access.

`claude mcp add` adds the server to the current project only. To use it in every project, add `--scope user` to that command.

## Claude.ai and Claude Desktop

1. Open **Settings** > **Connectors**.
2. Select **Add custom connector**.
3. Enter a name, such as `TPC`, and the URL `https://mcp.promptingco.com/mcp`.
4. Connect, then sign in to The Prompting Company in the browser and approve access.

## Other MCP clients

Clients that support remote MCP servers with OAuth use the same URL. Add `https://mcp.promptingco.com/mcp` as a remote HTTP server. The client registers itself and opens your browser to sign in, so you do not need a client ID or secret.

## Find your organization slug

Every tool needs an `organizationSlug` argument, and the server has no tool that lists organizations. You have to give the agent your slug.

Your organization slug is the first part of the path when you open your organization at `app.promptingco.com`. Product pages follow the pattern `https://app.promptingco.com/<org-slug>/p/<product-slug>`. For example, in `https://app.promptingco.com/acme/p/acme-cloud`, the organization slug is `acme` and the product slug is `acme-cloud`.

Put the slug in your message so the agent does not have to ask:

```text theme={null}
My organization slug is acme.
```

If you use the TPC CLI, `tpc org list` prints each organization as `Name (slug)`. See [Organizations](/cli/organizations).

If a tool returns `organization not found`, check the slug. TPC returns that error for a slug that does not exist and for an organization you are not a member of.
